If you're reading this, well, first of all, welcome and thank you for joining indieSpotlight! We are the newest directory for listing developer tools, web apps, services, you name what else, and we want to give every user a grasp of what this community will be trying to achieve.
First of all, as said in the first paragraph, we want this to be an actual community. Even though you might think that a lot of SaaS directories exist, with the most popular being ProductHunt, PeerPush, MicroLaunch, DevHunt and we could list many more, we don't want to just add on that just for random market competition. We want to create a listing community where people post underrated products, things that they just built and have no confidence or big plans on, but just want to make them visible and feel that other people are seeing them and supporting them, as alternative to other big-name tools, or just because they like seeing other people build. That is also another reason why we included a ProductHunt launch notification, so that the people that engage with a product that they like can show their support in other ways, including confirming that they will be upvoting it on other platforms at launch, or, if it's already launch, then showing their support by upvoting the minute they see it.

We see indieSpotlight as more than just a platform; it's a gathering place. As builders from Romania, we understand the journey of creating something new and the desire for it to be seen. Our aim is to highlight talent, particularly those developing innovative tools, both here in Romania and globally. We're considering special ways to feature country-based tools, encouraging local creativity, and also spotlighting specific categories to help every kind of product find its audience.
Your input is truly valued here. We're working on community voting features, allowing you to help identify the tools that resonate most. This space is being shaped by all of us, together.
Our Simple Guidelines for Listings
To ensure indieSpotlight remains a supportive and valuable environment for everyone, we've established a few straightforward guidelines for product listings. These are intended to help maintain quality and foster genuine engagement within our community:
- Products that solve a problem or have a strong idea:We're looking for tools that address a real need, no matter how niche. If you've built something with purpose, you're in the right place.
- No entirely vibecoded apps, they can have AI involved but not crazy slop: We appreciate thoughtful development. While AI can certainly be a component, we hope to see applications with a clear foundation and intent, rather than those solely built on fleeting concepts.
- No harmful stuff:This is fundamental. We're cultivating a positive and supportive community, and any content that promotes harm, hate, or illegal activities does not align with indieSpotlight's values.
